Aquamarine – Part Three
by Sparks In Shadow
Woodring followed Leira, realizing there was much he hadn’t known about the late Lord Alton’s wife. They hastened in among the trees and settled behind a large trunk to rest and think.
Woodring tried to look her in the eye. “I have questions, but can’t find words.”
After a moment, she spoke. “Those of us who remember the Aquamarine arts are few. Captain Isley has found that we exist and wants the power for himself. He means us harm. That’s why he threatens – why he attacked.”
“Then it wasn’t my fault? Because he and I argued?”
“No,” she said. “He wants more than me.”
The prompt was “… it wasn’t my fault …” from Julia.
