United States, February
by Sparks In Shadow
Our history, memories and stories passed down, are encouraged in February but we must be good-natured, keeping anger at bay, remembering how little our past matters in the present.
Many politicians and citizens, agree to February’s benign attention, but prefer that we show stoic grace and remember gratitude. It fits that the shortest month, cold in many states, represents, honors the painful shadows we’ve overcome.
Our need to speak about persisting inequities and indignities, is considered unseemly, unwelcome conversation. We know. These memories are keenest, old and recent, the choking deliberateness and inattention littering bewilderment among us, ever insidious.
