They’ve ended.

She’d received his love with her whole heart, open, returning love despite his terrorizing limitation, no stone to throw or desire to believe she deserved one.

She defends him sometimes even now, though the need to fight arises like the only thing that can save her, but on occasion she’ll embrace epithets she once thought unkind. Now there isn’t fear that they prove him right.

She’s comfortable with her anger now, as sanity allows. He’s held tight to that luxury all along, believing his mind’s distortions about her, unable to recognize gifts that were true and still are.
